The Serengeti Kuhama Camp has a total of 10 guest tents all with views of the Serengeti savannah. Accommodation is provided in spacious walk-in tents which can accommodate three beds (triple), and are furnished with beds made of fine tropical wood, bedside tables, mattresses, blankets, bed sheets and pillows, and all have a wooden floor. Each guest tent has a verandah with two safari chairs and a safari table allowing you to relax with a book, or just enjoy the different scents, sights and sounds around you.
The en-suite wash room facilities are set on the far end of the guest tent, offering a hand washbasin, a safari bucket shower and flush toilet. This is an eco-friendly camp fully powered by solar energy.
The mess tent is spacious and well ventilated, with dining tables, chairs, cutlery, crockery, table cloth and other facilities offered in a standard restaurant. On one side of the mess tent there is a small cozy lounge where guest can charge their electronic devices. The camp serves three freshly cooked meals a day – breakfast, lunch and dinner of which lunch and dinner are a 3-course meal.
Evenings are invariably a social gathering around a crackling campfire in a serene and quiet surrounding interrupted by occasional distant calls of wildlife.
EXCELLENT Based on 114 reviews dusym20222024-12-02Verified In the heart of the endless plain! This is an extraordinary bush camp. We stayed there 3 days and 3 nights. The welcome of Mr. M'Baga and the whole camp team is very warm. It is a tent camp, in the English style of the early 20th century, in the heart of the Serengeti. This camp, is very well arranged and of course full of charm (s), in the heart of an ecosystemically intact nature and extremely rich in flora, fauna, adaptive biodiversities and an indescribable splendor! The bush camp tents are very spacious and functional. Very clever, they are equipped with all modern comforts. For example, showers. When you return from safari in the evening, after a warm welcome, you are asked when you want to take a shower. At the exact time, the team members will pour the water heated to the right temperature, into a tank outside the shower and which communicates with the inside pipe. They stay until the end of your shower, careful that you do not miss anything. In the evening at nightfall, a campfire, gathered before dinner, all the campers. Protected by a benevolent member of Massai security armed with a spear. It's time for an aperitif, and possible exchanges with other travelers. Dinner is nice, choice, good products from Tanzania, very well cooked. Very good choice of vind too. We're using it in self-service! The return to his tent, a small walk, is made as soon as night falls accompanied by a member of the security Massai. Same goes for the campfire or dinner. It's a caution. As in many lodges located in the heart of nature reserves, as soon as it gets dark, you must be accompanied for your outdoor trips in the camp. It's a canvas camp. There's no swimming pool. There is, however, a discreet watering hole outside the camp. You can't see it. This prevents the animals from prowling around the tents in search of water they have perceived. We sleep very well there. The beds are very comfortable. Tents, are mosquito net tents that embrace the entire accommodation, including bedrooms, toilets and bathrooms. So you don't need a mosquito net around the bed here. There is an SAS, a small living room, between the outside and the bedroom. What makes there is double mosquito protection!! That said, there really are not many!! So all the conditions are met, so that at the end of an excellent day of Safari, aperitif, campfire and dinner, we can fall asleep by letting ourselves be lulled into songs of the night at the Serengeti. Animals are here, not far away, Tembo the elephant, buffaloes, wildebeest and zebras. Nearby, we hear the call of the hyena. And finally, the call of Simba the Lion. He's ready! You can fall asleep... In the early morning, as the sun rises, a soft voice outside the tent quietly accompanies your awakening. "Hello, good moraine, how are you?"... It's time! After a little toilet, you have to get dressed and leave for a delicious breakfast. Before heading back to the slopes of the serengeti, under the guidance of your guide. He prepared the day and the bush vehicle. If you can stay several days and nights, it is better, the serengeti bears his name well. In the Maasai language, it is "the endless plain". Wildlife in its immense diversity is there, everywhere. She lives her life, peacefully, harmoniously, without worrying about our presence. Animals are not waiting for us to pose photo! On safari, you go on the trail, you have to have eyes everywhere to find the rarest animals. The guides have very good eyes. Ours, Athman, took rn four to find out, the hardest to find species, like the rhino and leopard, camouflaged in improbable hiding places or landscapes as far as the eye can see... There is a part of luck too, a passage to the right place and at the right time. But this is an opportunity that must be optimized by the time of observation and patience! And all the splendor of the living is open to you! Safari njema na tuonane hivi karibuni, kwaheri! Michael G2024-11-21Verified Impressive, Warm, Magical The atmosphere in the camp was breathtaking. In the middle of the Serengeti you could observe wildlife at any time. At night, the sounds of the animals were heard. I was always very friendly and attentively looked after and felt very comfortable. Food and drinks were top. The tent accommodation was very comfortable. The atmosphere around the campfire in the evening was magical. Thank you very much for the wonderful time...I would love to come back. Peter G2024-09-25Verified Camping at the Serengeti Kahuma Camp We stayed at the Serengeti Kuhama Camp for 3 nights at the end of August 2024. We didn't want to just stay in lodges. The experience is more like being one with nature. In the morning gazelles grazed in front of the tent. In the evening there was a spotted hyena who was more frightened by us than we were by him. The tents are very spacious and high. You really don't have to bend down. Each tent also has a "living room" and the bathroom. Everything spick and span clean. Hot water for showering. Excellent beds where you can sleep well. Thick duvets for when it cools down considerably at night. The food is also well prepared and there is plenty of choice. The management is very customer friendly. The camp is highly recommended if you want a camping experience. We had a great time there. Jbster20152024-09-14Verified An absolute once in a lifetime experience We had the most extraordinary experience. Completely isolated, peaceful, authentic. We had a pride of 17 lions located within 100m of our tent. We were awoken in the middle of the night by the sound of thundering buffalo hoofs and the menacing growls of a lion in a battle over the water container. It was beyond all expectations. The staff cooked amazing meals, walked us to our tent and ensured we were safe at all times. It is the memory of a lifetime. Marcello r2024-09-13Verified Enchanting Experience Lovely place inside the Serengeti park We stayed at this property during a safari. WiFi present everywhere Staff really charms We had the pleasure of sleeping a few meters from Lions and Hyenas present inside the Camp Recommended to stay during your trip Daniel2024-08-17Verified An unforgettable glamping experience in the middle of the Serengeti. Real safari feeling with campfire and almost up close wildlife contact at night. Good food and heartwarming friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. There are even some board games that you can use in a communal tent. The tents have toilet and water, which is heated by the fire on request. Nicolas P2024-08-14Verified Small camp in the bush that takes you to heart We loved this small camp of 10 tents in the middle of the bush with a charming team and excellent food service. Tents certainly a little rustic but with all comfort. And what about showers with hot and cold water mixed when the time comes for the team with a smile. Not to mention the aperitifs around a campfire with animals not far away. It must be said that we are in the middle of nowhere with nocturnal visitors buffaloes, antelope, sometimes lions or even leopards (do not go out unaccompanied of course...). In short, unforgettable moments! Adri9922024-07-19Verified Starry Night in the Serengeti We stayed at Karibu Kuhama Camp on the second night of our safari in Zanzibar. For us it was the best evening spent on this safari; the camp was very organized and the welcome of the people who work there very very warm, we felt really pampered in the middle of the savanah. Of course, being a tented camp these are tents, very large and comfortable equipped with bed, wardrobe, bedside tables and en suite bathroom! As soon as we arrived we could comfortably wash ourselves with warm water that they prepare specially thanks to solar panels and then we had dinner in the catering tent the typical dishes of the place: the menu presented was very rich in both vegetables and meat and lake fish (Tilapia, delicious). Drinks and food we absolutely did not miss, they cooked a lot for us. During the night we were lucky enough to hear lions, hyenas and buffaloes that “walked” quietly among the tents without bothering, in any case the camp has a Maasai boy who protects guests in case of attacks. The next morning a curious hyena admired us from afar while we had our breakfast and we could admire the Dawn in the beautiful Serengeti park. Thanks to all the guys in the camp!! The tents are very well appointed and clean.. The service is really exceptional. I highly recommend it. Thank you all for your hospitality and kindness mpausz2024-04-02Verified Comfortable tent accommodation in a unique natural landscape We spent three nights here in March 2024 in the immediate vicinity of hyenas and the roar of lions from a medium distance. Unforgettable and breathtaking! The living tents are as comfortable as possible, with a "real" bed as well as a private bathroom and separate toilet. Hot water is prepared when required and made available as a shower with a lead time of around 30 minutes (not at the sink). After dark, it is obligatory to be accompanied by a Masai when moving around the complex. Breakfast, lunch box and dinner are varied, plentiful and of high quality. The friendliness of the staff and cleanliness leave nothing to be desired. Drink prices are reasonable given the complex logistics in the middle of the savannah.
